Desk Clocks

Another item produced by Fabergé that stood alongside the photograph frames on desks, mantelpieces and tables throughout Europe was the clock. Clocks were among the most rare of the workshops’ creations. The range of style in clocks was great indeed. Some of them were simple cubes of hard stone, sometimes lapis lazuli but most often nephrite, executed in clean, simple lines. Other times these clocks displayed a more whimsical idea. This is obvious in the “Man on the Moon” clock. Clocks also took center stage on some of the imperial Easter eggs. The movements were always supplied from a Swiss manufacturer by the name of Henry Moser & Cie.
